A very early, serious influence on Dulcie Taylor was the clueless teenager who sat on her ukelele and smashed it because her Mother then gave her her first guitar.

But the biggest influence on Taylor was being raised in a small community. “You’re in people’s faces a lot. That makes you look at the human situation very closely.” That perspective and experience has defined the things Dulcie holds precious in this world: “Most of life is made up of the day-to-day small things. I look for the beauty in them.”
Dulcie has been a recording artist with Mesa/Bluemoon Recordings since 2002. Her collaboration with label president and producer George Nauful has led to the release of seven CDs and three EPs of original songs. Her music has reached No. 1 at Amazon for Top-Rated Americana and the videos of her original songs have over 4 Million views at YouTube. Her latest EP – Edges of Silver – was chosen by PopMatters as one of the Top 15 Best Americana Albums of 2023 (Steve Horowitz) and was chosen by Deep Roots (David McGee) as No. 5 on the Elite Half Hundred of 2023, a list that cuts across multiple genres. Throughout her recording career, Dulcie has been a radio favorite and has received widespread critical acclaim, such as:

The Rock with Cheryl Wells-The Chameleon

“She has an unforgettable voice that lends credence to her evocative lyrics. She’s a poet. When this gal sings, you believe her.”

Michael Greenblatt, Goldmine Magazine

“Her ability to turn ‘then’ into ‘now’ gives her songs, whether set a hundred years ago or last week, a sense of immediacy and timelessness.”

Eric Brace, The Washington Post

“An array of sepia-tinged life truths find a glimmering voice…contemporary roots music infused with soulful Appalachian spirit. Taylor brings to her music a Southern vocal lilt, tender lyrical insights, and
a knack for pristine melodies.”

Jim Kirlin, Wood & Steel

“With twang, edge and the ring of emotional truth, Taylor creates songs that are lyrically and melodically powerful.”

Paul Freeman, Pop Culture Classics

“The simple truth about Dulcie Taylor is that she is one of the finest Americana-style songwriters of her time.”

David McGee, Deep Roots

“As always, her delivery shimmers like a multi-faceted gemstone.”

Robert K. Oermann, MusicRow

“She’s been labelled as Americana, Country and everything in-between. She’s remained sharply focused on her ability to write emotive lyrics, coupled with her engaging melodies, added to a non-typical vocal style which brings the lyrics to life. The end result is an undeniable intimacy.”

Eric Thom, Americana Highways

“She is a poet and a dreamer and a highly effective guide through the seemingly small things that matter most.”

ParcBench

“With caressing instrumentation that buttresses her slippery vocals, you will totally lose yourself in her tantalizing way with words to the point where you’ll be left wanting more.”

Mike Greenblatt, Goldmine Magazine

“Sure fire killer stuff from a major talent.”

Chris Spector, Midwest Record

“Grit and grace…from growing up in South Carolina…stories that become three minute movies.”

Kerry Dexter, Wandering Educator

“She puts to music life’s everyday moments, capturing their fleeting magic for the rest of us who too often let them slip away.”
